168 February 13979: Rogernald Dogue's New Year Message

It's been a while since my last note, I know. But my New Year message is:

Hope you have a Happy New Year!

It's been a long and arduous summer for us - a lot of lying, rolling and squinting, some sniffing, howling and whining and a modicum of walking, running and panting.

Summer hasn't been too hot (although it's been very warm over the last week) - just warm enough to justify lying in the shade without moving for most of the day. There haven't been any great summer adventures - I see myself as more of a winter dog (black just isn't a very summery colour) - I leave summer adventures to the "floral dogs" - you know, terriers, poodles, chihuahuas (is that how you spell their silly name?) and the like.

It does raise one question, though - Young Master Elliot recently got a pair of sunglasses - highly useless for a little mummy's boy who spends all day inside in the cool, drinking and eating, whilst a very macho dog (no, I'm not talking about Ellie) has been exiled to live out his years outside and poor Roge doesn't even get a sunshade. I'm going to petition Master Craig for a pair of sunglasses and a cap!

I think the cap should have something really cool on it - something like "Roger Cooldogue" or "No anxiety" or "Just Roge" or "Take no prisoners" or "Cats smell" - that would get a bit of attention when I'm doing the shopping.

Anyway, I'm off to do something exciting so that I can report back.

In the meantime, there are matters mail to take care of:

"Greetings from Brandy the German Shepherd and
Yoda the Lhasa Apso (actually Yoda the Mutt)
To think we thought taxation specialists were
dry old sticks!! They can't be all bad with
such perceptive pets.

John and Jane Lutz (owned by Brandy and Yoda)"

I just thought that my cap could read - Roger the Perceiver (I've been watching (through the window, now, of course) that show The Pretender - talk about a guy who needs a friendly dog).

"Roge and Ellie - this is from Jan and Pat
in Columbus, Ohio, USA who have Barnum,
Bailey and Abbie Normyl - we've changed
our URL and Email address...don't want
you to not be able to reach us...:-) :-)

Jan Orick"

Noted.

"Greetings -

Sir Lucky of Las Vegas (a whippet/shepard) wishes to advise Rogernald
Dogue and Elanor Dogue-Dogue that he heartily supports their quest for
equal rights for access to the internet. He asks if they need his
assistance and support, just give him a bark.

And, on the serious side, I did sign your guest book and would like your
permission to put a link on my upcoming spring page, a portion to be
entitled "Leap Into Spring" featuring some information on frogs, gifs,
pictures, poetry, etc. I would also like to perhaps use a few of your
gifs and as direct quotes, perhaps a few of your comments on frogs.

Please check out my present site and give me your thoughts.

You have a very wonderful site, and I enjoyed all of my tour. There
were only a few areas that I didn't view, but will come back for those
later. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Pamela Perreault"

From my perspective, I would suggest "Leap into Autumn" and I'll pass on your requests to Master Craig.

"Nice site Roge and Elle! Craig seems like a nice guy too.
Please tell him "thank-you" for letting me add his link to my home
page. I like his drawings of frogs. did he really draw them? I still
need a picture of a nose frog though! Visit my page sometime!

Thanks.

Your friend, Lindsay K."

Master Craig draw! Ha! He's a typist, if you want piccies come to Ellie or me.

"Everyone around here has been so busy. April and I [Bear] have not been
allowed in the computer room. Don the master is working 60 hours per
week doing engineering and one shift a week at the local fire
department. Also he building a second computer. Chris [4th grade] and
Lauie [2nd year in college] are back in school. They use the computer
all the time for homework, so they say. We know that Laurie visits
places where she talks to people. Today Master Don let us mail Roge.
Our dog life has been boring. I like to chase squrrels and April sleep
a lot. There isn't a lot for us to do in the winter. Except getting
your paws cleaned every time you come in. Even the neighborhood dog
hasn't been around.

We are both upset by what Don told us. His fire station got a pet. Yes
a pet, but not a dog, but a Hedge Hog!!!!!!! What happened to the good
old dalmation. Also the two cats get more attention they can sleep on
the beds, while we stay in the kitchen.

Spring will be here soon and we will have more things to do outside. But
our fun snow piles will be gone. Our master says he will have more time
to help us write when he is done teaching electronics at night school
and gets wome work projects done. So have fun with the little one.

Woof, Woof

Bear and April."

Sleeping a lot sounds like a lot of fun - be careful, summer means having to do more things (ie. less sleep).

"Roger and Ellie,
We just finished opening the gifts from you.
THANK-YOU!!! I have been fighting mistress Linda for the calendar. I
like the different holiday's that you celebrate and I informed mistress
that I must start celebrating these also. She told me that unless I
intend on moving down with you that I will only celebrate our hoilday's.
Looks like you have your hands full with master Elliot. He sounds
like he is going to be getting into your affairs. Very bright little
boy, maybe you should consider taking him under your wing and teaching
him things right.
     Welcome back from vacation.

Samantha."

Let me just say that anyone else wanting to send us presents may do so with our permission.

Yep, the Elliot Boy does seem to be learning things relatively quickly - at least there's no more sleeping in by Master Craig - we also have something interesting to lick (when permitted). Young master Elliot seems to be flavoured differently each time we can get hold of him. The only thing we've tried to teach him so far is how to lick - he's OK - and how to sniff - there hasn't been much improvement on that front, sadly. We'll continue trying, though.

Ellie Take me to the next diary entry or show me the complete calendar!

a very nice picture of me I'd be very happy if you'd sign Master Craig's visitors' book before you leave (he won't create one for me).
